I notice it's been months since our last post here. Blame it on a lack of drive, laziness and a lack of interest in wedding pageantry. Preparing for a wedding is a headache.
So far, all we've finalized are the venue and our caterer.
Venue
We've chosen to be wed at
The Reading Room, Filipinas Heritage Library. It's a pretty small oval-shaped room that can fit about 80 people for a sit-down dinner, which is perfect for our needs, because we'll be using the room both for the ceremony and reception and we have less than 80 guests.
We've so far paid about a third of the total fee, and have had the contract revised twice or thrice due to small changes and my fickleness. From an original schedule of 4pm-8pm, we had it changed to 10am-2pm for some reason I still cannot fathom. I really am not particular about these things.
Catering
Now that we had the venue, we set about securing a caterer. We only looked at two:
K by Cunanan and
Passion Cooks, based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback I could glean about them from Google.
K By Cunanan is an accredited caterer at FHL, so we decided to email them first for inquiries. Unfortunately, they were already booked on our date.
That left Passion Cooks to email. My heart fell when they said they were pencil booked on April 30th, but luck was on our side when we found out the pencil booking fell through and we were able to schedule a meeting with them.
We've had our first food-tasting -- the food was great, our day not so much, though Passion Cooks had nothing to do with that :P -- and paid half the catering fee. Next year we're also planning to discuss additional event styling, since we have no artistry and have no idea how to decorate a bare room.
With those two most important factors out of the way, we could now focus on the smaller details; the wedding clothes, photographer, um... other stuff?
Next post: the rings!
